SQUARE
DANCE
CALLER
Square Dance Caller is the genre-defying brainchild of Australian brothers and songwriters, Brendan and Michael Etherington. A nod to their late grandfather's tenure as a real-life Square Dance Caller, the band draws inspiration from outfits Arctic Monkeys, The Clash and Gorillas.
Honing their songwriting craft in Melbourne, Australia, the evidence lies in SDC’s discography, with their groove-rock sounds garnering praise from influential tastemakers across indie media outlets and playlists throughout Europe and America.
Their catalogue comprises the debut 2021 album ‘Celebrity,’ 2022 EP ‘Daze in Technicolor’ and 2023 single, London Underground, with their most-listened track, ‘Swimming Pool’ gaining over 37,000 plays on Spotify.
Hot off the heels of their successful 2023 UK tour, wowing crowds across festival and namesake shows, and with recent plays on BBC Introducing, SDC are excited to be releasing two new singles and an album in the lead-up to their second UK Tour in Summer 2024.

2023 Single ‘London Underground’
Their debut album was a labour of lockdown love, shown through evocative and mood-driven melodies from bold rock riffs to atmospheric ballads.
Their follow-up EP is laden with introspective songwriting and anecdotal lyricism, set against dreamy earworm soundscapes.
Inspired by people-watching on a trip to the UK, this single showcases SDC songwriting at its best: capturing a mood and transporting you there, through euphoric musicality.
